Tombstone Tuesday: Edward Coffee and Elizabeth Neville Coffee

Elizabeth Neville Coffee, 1790 - 1879, Bleckley Cemetery, Rabun County, Georgia

Elizabeth Neville consort of Edward Coffee, born Anderson Co., S.C. June 24, 1790. Died Sept. 15, 1879.

The Coffees were early residents of Rabun County, having moved from what was then known as Pendleton District, South Carolina (present day Oconee, Pickens, and Anderson Counties). I mention their point of origin because of the inscription given on Elizabeth’s stone, which states her place of birth as Anderson Co., SC. Edward’s stone, however, paints a different picture entirely.
