Passages Through Time Genealogy Conference

The Federation of Genealogical Societies will hold a genealogy conference called Passages Through Time from September 2 - 5, 2009 at the Little Rock Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. About two dozen exhibitors, to date, will have displays, including the National Genealogical Society, Ancestry.com, book vendors, and many others.

The classes and lectures are numerous and cover a variety of interesting subjects. September 2nd is devoted primarily to information and continuing education for professional genealogists, and include topics such as client agreements and marketing campaigns.

Lectures held on the other scheduled days cover everything from basic research techniques to computerized genealogy to using Family Search to researching slave ancestry to using archives, just to name a few. There is a heavy emphasis on “Society Management”; since the sponsor is the FGS, that’s to be expected.

If you live near Little Rock, or can take a week to travel there, then I highly recommend attendance of this conference.
